Why Extra Curriculars?

WHY
ADMISSIONS VALUE
EXTRACURRICULARS

Selective colleges use holistic review, meaning they evaluate your application as a complete picture—not just grades or scores.

Extracurriculars are often the clearest evidence of how you’ll grow, contribute, and thrive on campus.

WHAT EXTRACURRICULARS REVEAL :

Choice

What you pursue when no one assigns it.

WHAT COLLEGES LOOK FOR IN ECs

Colleges don’t reward doing the most. They reward meaningful work—done with depth, clarity, and proof.

EC SCORING — WHAT IT REALLY MEANS

EC Scoring Criteria

There isn’t one universal “Ivy/T20 EC scoring rubric.” Each college uses its own process, and most internal scoring isn’t public. But parts of some systems have surfaced publicly—one well-known example is Harvard’s numerical ratings (including an extracurricular rating) described in court records.
